Working together…
…internally:
The German National Committee for International Youth Work (DNK) represents German youth organisations multilaterally. That may sound complicated, but it is really very simple: the DNK forges the link between German youth organisations and their counterparts abroad. The DNK is the import and export headquarters for everything relating to youth work – it is the control room where the exchange takes place.
Cooperation is imperative, and that is why the DNK is a working group of the German Federal Youth Council, the Council of Political Youth Organisations and the German Sports Youth. The DNK welcomes plurality, as that is what has been giving it its international clout.
The DNK’s task is to achieve consensus among German youth organisations about shared initiatives at an international level. Not only since yesterday, but since 1963.
…externally:
The DNK goes by the motto: “Two is never enough.” The DNK’s purpose is not to coordinate bilateral relations among youth organisations. That is the job of the German Federal Youth Council, the Council of Political Youth Organisations, the German Sports Youth and their respective member organisations. The DNK’s multilateral approach is what is key.
